Tuition & Financial Aid

We believe that an independent school education is an investment that will pay off in many ways throughout your lifetime.  Making a VVS education accessible to families from many economic backgrounds is important to us, and we are committed to enrolling a talented and diverse group of students.

Additional Charges:   We recognize that tuition is a substantial financial commitment, therefore we try to include as many activities as we can in the tuition cost.  For example,  A comprehensive meal plan, November Field Trips (excluding independent field trips), Decembermester and Project Period are included in the tuition fee. There are times, however, where additional fees are charged, including horseback riding, competitive athletics, and select afternoon activities.

Boarding Students live on campus in dormitories 7 days a week, excluding designated school breaks. Boarding student tuition includes room and all meals served in the VVS dining hall.

5-Day Boarding Students live on campus in the dormitories Sunday night through Friday afternoon and are expected to leave campus Friday after dinner and return after dinner but before Study Hall on Sunday. Five Day boarders are permitted to stay on campus for the four required weekends in the year: Fall Adventure Weekend, the weekend before Field Trips, Spring Adventure Weekend, and the weekend during Project Period.

Day Students
live with their parent(s) or guardian(s) in the Sedona area. Day students participate fully in both academic and community life programs and remain on campus all day attending all classes, sports and work jobs.

Financial Aid

It is our goal to build diverse, engaged, talented, and interesting classes. Our Financial Aid Program supports deserving students for whom otherwise a VVS education might not be a possibility.
Awards to qualified students are based upon a demonstration of financial need coupled with a student’s merit, and for every family we offer two payment schedules to accommodate budgeting and planning needs.

The Financial Aid Committee keeps all financial information confidential, and aid is available to students of any race, color, gender, creed, sexual orientation, or national or ethnic origin.

How to Apply

Verde Valley School uses the Clarity Application to determine a family’s level of financial need based on the information that families share in the application which includes assets, income, expenses, and debts. Financial documents required for submission to Clarity will be handled with the utmost privacy.

The deadline for completing the financial aid application, including required documentation, is:
  • January 15 for Early Action Applicants, and
  • January 31 for Regular Decision Applicants
All applications received after that will be considered if aid remains available.

STEP 1

Create an account with Clarity to begin the application process, which typically takes about 30 minutes to complete. Clarity is user-friendly and may be completed on your desktop, laptop, tablet, or mobile device.

STEP 2

Once your application is complete, pay the $60 fee and submit.

Please contact our Director of Enrollment, John Gordon, if you have questions.

Arizona Resident Students

There are two main scholarships for private schools in Arizona: ESA and STOs. Both are explained below. Note that a child cannot receive funding from both ESA and an STO in the same school year. Our admissions team can help you decide which would be the best fit for your family.

Empowerment Scholarship Account Program
Parents have the right to choose what’s best for their family and have their education tax dollars pay for the school that meets their child’s needs. Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESA) make that possible. With the ESA program, the money that would pay for that student’s education in a neighborhood school follows that student to whichever school the parents choose for their child, including education at home. ESA dollars cover multiple education expenses such as private school tuition, curricula, educational supplies, tutoring and more.

Student Tuition Organizations
School Tuition Organizations (STOs) receive tax credit donations from individuals and corporations to support scholarships for eligible students to cover private school tuition costs.
All students are eligible for the original Tax-Credit Scholarship, but they might also qualify for other categories for additional funds.

Verde Valley School has partnered with the following STOs, and all Arizona resident applicants exploring tuition assistance are encouraged to apply to each of these:

Arizona 4 Education Scholarship Foundation
Arizona Leadership Foundation
Academic Opportunity of Arizona
Arizona Private School Tuition Organization
Arizona School Choice Trust
Financial Assistance for Independent Schools
Institute for Better Education
School Choice Arizona
T.O.P.S. For Kids
Verde Valley School Tuition Organization
