Student Life

Weekends

Weekends at VVS can be as busy or as relaxed as you like.  Five faculty teams alternate weekends to provide activities for students from Friday evening to Sunday evening.  Activities range from evening trips to the movies to laser tag on the soccer field.

Outdoors

Outdoor activities, ranging from horseback riding competitions to climbing day trips, are offered each weekend. These adventures give students the chance to travel to different destinations, try something new or further explore the sports they have sampled during weekday afternoons.  Trips range from half-day excursions to weekend-long adventures.

Service

A service trip is offered each weekend and can include dog walking at the Sedona Humane Society, food pick ups for the Backpacks for Kids program or eyeglass cleaning and reading at Sedona Eye Care to get glasses ready for summer eyeglass clinics in Malawi. Service trips are encouraged and are a great way for IB students to organize CAS work.

On Campus

Student organized Coffee Houses are put on monthly, providing students the opportunity to perform and enjoy performances of music, dance and poetry readings. You can also take part in pick up soccer games, organized basketball competitions, laser tag and ultimate frisbee.

Sedona and Beyond

From local grocery runs to day trips in Sedona, Flagstaff, and Phoenix, weekends at VVS are never short on options. Shop uptown Sedona, the outlet mall in Anthem, or Fashion Square in Phoenix — or catch a professional basketball, baseball, or football game. Flagstaff offers specialty shops, coffee houses, and everything Northern Arizona University has to offer.
Verde Valley School is an International Baccalaureate boarding and day high school for students in grades 9-12.
