Weekends

Weekends at VVS can be as busy or as relaxed as you like.  Four faculty teams alternate weekends to provide activities for students from Friday evening to Sunday evening.  Activities range from evening trips to the movies to laser tag on the soccer field. Weekend schedules are posted on the dining hall bulletin board every Friday at lunch time and students can then sign up for activities.
  • Student Directed and Faculty Supervised

Students are encouraged to meet with the weekly faculty duty teams to add activities to the weekend schedule. All weekend trips are supervised by our faculty.

  • Outdoor

Outdoor activities, ranging from horseback riding competitions to climbing day trips, are offered each weekend. These adventures give students the chance to travel to different destinations, try something new or further explore the sports they have sampled during weekday afternoons.  Trips range from half-day excursions to weekend-long adventures.

  • Service

A service trip is offered each weekend and can include dog walking at the Sedona Humane Society, food pick ups for the Backpacks for Kids program or eyeglass cleaning and reading at Sedona Eye Care to get glasses ready for summer eyeglass clinics in Malawi. Service trips are encouraged and are a great way for IB students to organize CAS work.

  • Shopping

Shopping trips are offered each weekend. Shopping destinations include downtown Flagstaff, uptown Sedona, the outlet mall in Anthem and the malls of Phoenix, including Fashion Square Mall. You can also stock up on snacks with weekly trips to local grocery stores.

  • Sedona/Flagstaff/Phoenix

Other weekend offerings include staying in Sedona for bowling, movie trips and dinner at restaurants. Downtown Flagstaff has great specialty shops and coffee shops and all that Northern Arizona University has to offer.  Phoenix’s proximity also give us the opportunity to offer trips to see professional basketball, baseball and football games as well as cultural events and trips for all-day paint ball adventures.

  • On-Campus Programs

Student organized Coffee Houses are put on monthly, providing students the opportunity to perform and enjoy performances of music, dance and poetry readings. You can also take part in pick up soccer games, organized basketball competitions, laser tag and ultimate frisbee.
