Academics the Main Lure to Boarding Schools by Mary Beth Faller, July 18, 2010
The Arizona Republic
The coats and ties and hallowed hallways of the East's most famous prep schools are not to be found at Arizona's two largest college-prep boarding schools - the Orme School in Mayer and the Verde Valley School in Sedona. Neither requires uniforms and both promote a more relaxed, outdoors-focused culture.
"It's so down to earth, which I liked because I'm not really into clothes, and the people were so generous and kind," Mia Schimmel said of her first visit to the Orme School.
