Reunion Weekend 2010

The weekend kicked off early with the Amigos 7th Annual VVS Benefit Gourmet Wine Dinner at the Warren House on Thursday, June 10th.  This year’s theme was “Asian Sensations!”  Chris and Jen Warren hosted and Steven Gendel ’74 was the chef assisted by Greg Campbell '71, Hilde Keldermans, Dana Blavat, Dawn Lorenzo and Mary Joy Sun and Ginny Huang providing the labor.

The proceeds from this year’s Benefit Dinner go to the Cliff Perkins Memorial Scholarship Fund, established to benefit current students in honor of one of our most influential and beloved Verde Valley School teachers.

Reunion officially started on Friday, June 11, with the VVS Amigos'  welcome reception and cocktail hour on the Quad.

The Cliff Perkins Memorial Scholarship Fund was christened briefly at the Friday night dinner and a tribute to Cliff was held after dinner when alumni, faculty, and friends shared their stories about him.

The Silent Auction, chaired by Bunny de Berge ’61 and Tammy Cohen Stanton ’88, has raised over $60,000 for VVS in the last seven years.

Saturday was work projects/activities day.  The Flagstone Crew, led by 69ers Chris Schrager and Peter Hardin,  worked overtime, as usual, to complete the Babs Warren Memorial, and the paint and landscaping crews helped beautify the campus. Chris Warren spearheaded the planting of trees and a sprinkler system at the entrance to the school.

The 2010 Warren Awards, recognizing outstanding VVS alumni/ae for Professional Achievement, Service to Humanity, and/or Creative Excellence, were announced and presented at the Saturday night dinner in Brady Hall: Rick Ridder and Jeff Perkins are this year's Warren Award winners.
