Registration & Orientation Schedule
August 28th through August 31st
Wednesday, August 27th RAs Arrive
Thursday, August 28th New Students Arrive
8:00 – 9:00AM Breakfast
All new boarding and new day students arrive during the day
Airport pickups at 2:30PM from Sky Harbor with: Forrest Davis, Margaret Casey
9:00AM – Noon - Registration begins in the Main Office
Noon – 1:00PM - Lunch
1:00 – 4:00PM - Registration continues
2:00 – 4:00PM - Computer registration & Sport Signups in Dining Hall
4:30PM - VVS History presentation in Avery Gallery for parents only (Kevin Warren, Dean of Students and Paul Domingue, Headmaster)
6:00PM - Dinner in the dining hall, parents welcome!
7:00PM - Student activities on the Quad and campus tour
9:00PM - Required dorm meetings for all new boarding students
10:00PM - In-dorms/quiet hours: Dorm heads check
Friday, August 29th Returning Students Arrive
8:00 – 9:00AM - Breakfast
All returning boarding and day students arrive during the day
Airport pickups at 2:30PM from Sky Harbor with: Jeff Perkins and Amy Warren
9:00AM – Noon Registration continues (start the process in the Main Office)
11:00 – 1:00PM Computer registration & Sport Signups in Dining Hall (all trip leaders must attend)
Noon – 1:00PM Lunch in the dining hall
1:00 – 4:00PM Registration continues
3:00PM REQUIRED: All students interested in competitive soccer meet on the Quad.
4:00PM REQUIRED: All Students (new, returning & day) meet in Chapel for Community Expectations (Kevin Warren, Dean of Students & Paul Domingue, Headmaster)
5:30 – 6:30PM Dinner in the dining hall, parents welcome!
7:00PM All boarding student (day students welcome but not required) for fun and games
9:00 – 10:00PM Late night snack, Dining Hall
10:00PM In dorms/quiet hours: Dorm heads check
Saturday, August 30th
9:00AM – Noon Final registration for late arriving students (begin in Main Office)
10:00 – 11:00AM Brunch (Required for all boarding students)
10:00AM – Noon Computer registration & Sport Signups in Dining Hall
11:00AM – Noon REQUIRED: All students who will be taking a foreign language are to meet in the dining hall to speak with & take a placement test with language teachers (Wim Sprenger & Sara Wenzlick/Spanish, Ilka Workman/German & Nelson Camp/French)
Noon – 12:30PM REQUIRED: All SENIORS meet with Kendall Smith in Classroom 7
Noon – 12:40PM REQUIRED: All new students meet in dining hall for math placement test
12:40 – 1:20PM REQUIRED: All new students (including ESL students) meet in the dining hall for English writing sample placement test.
1:30 – 2:30PM REQUIRED: All students (returning, new & day) in Brady Hall. Academic Expectations with Paul Stein, Academic Dean.
2:30 – 3:00PM REQUIRED: All students (new, returning & day) meet in Brady Hall regarding technology with Septimus Bean (Director of Technology) and Library technology with Diane Moen
3:00 – 3:30PM REQUIRED: FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS: Remain in Brady to speak with Amy Warren (International Student Coordinator)
3:30 – 4:15PM REQUIRED: All Junior IB Diploma Candidates meet with Dale Domingue (CAS Coordinator) and Septimus Bean (Directory of Technology in Avery Gallery for Creativity, Action, Service program discussion. BRING LAPTOPS IF YOU HAVE THEM
4:15 – 4:45PM REQUIRED: All Senior IB Diploma Candidates meet with Dale Domingue (CAS Coorrdinator) and Septimus Bean (Directory of Technology in Avery Gallery for Creativity, Action, Service program discussion. BRING LAPTOPS IF YOU HAVE THEM
5:30 – 6:30PM Dinner
6:30 – 10:00PM Free Time, off campus trips (TBD)
9:00 – 10:00PM Late night snack, Dining Hall
10:00PM In-dorms/quiet hours: Dorm Heads check
Sunday, August 31st
10:00 – 11:00AM Brunch (REQUIRED FOR ALL BOARDING STUDENTS)
10:00 – Noon Computer registration and Sports Signups in Dining Hall
11:00 – Noon REQUIRED: All new students meet in Brady Hall for Field Trip orientation and sign ups.
Noon – 2:00PM Final academic registration with Paul Stein, Academic Dean
Noon Weber’s & WalMart shopping trips plus Flagstaff for soccer equipment only (drivers TBA)
5:45PM Day students to arrive, please be prompt and dressed up (ties for boys & dress skirt or dress pants for girls) for photo and dinner.
6:00PM VVS community photo in front of the Brady Hall. Dress up for photo/ dinner –-all students, faculty & staff
6:30PM Dress dinner in Brady Hall
7:45PM VVS History Night in Brady Hall – REQUIRED ATTENDANCE
10:00PM In-dorms/quiet hours: Dorm Heads check
