VVS Life
There is always something happening at VVS. With more than 120 high-energy, inquisitive, independent students and 24 talented, energetic faculty members there is never a dull moment. In small dorms students share their lives with each other. Each dorm has a faculty member, who serves as a dorm parent, and a peer resident assistant. And since most faculty live on campus there is always a lot of give and take between students and their teachers. Faculty and staff are always there to help with a question, problem or to help organize a special activity like hiking in the Grand Canyon, riding horseback on park trails, going to concerts and shows, or just going to the movies and dinner off campus. There is no shortage of opportunities for fun at VVS. Speakers and performances are scheduled on campus throughout the year. Students can get involved in the yearbook, school newspaper, student government and many community service projects. Special interests also bring groups together - science, computers, environmental awareness, political or social issues, art, literature, drama, sports - the only limitation here is your imagination. Dorm jobs start at 7:00am and classes begin at 8:00am every weekday morning. More classes, lunch, work jobs, sports, meals, clubs and study hours fill much of the day. Four mornings a week the entire VVS community gathers to make announcements, air grievances, and occasionally enjoy a performance - sometimes impromptu. It all makes for a lot of fun, a lot of learning and the creation of life-long friendships.
