ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE
Students at Verde Valley School undertake a demanding college preparatory curriculum which uniquely combines the traditional college preparatory subjects with an emphasis on anthropology and intercultural understanding and special learning experiences. At Verde Valley all our classes are kept small and our faculty is always available to help students during and after class.
Active participation in learning opportunities and a fully integrated curriculum make the education at VVS a hands-on experience. Our field trips, project periods, and work jobs expand on the exceptional academic preparation with real-life learning experiences and opportunities for personal growth.
Our technology infrastructure (which includes high-speed wireless internet throughout the entire campus, a central computer lab with PCs and Macs workstations, a teaching lab, and library computer stations) is well suited to support our students.
Our library houses a diverse, multi-lingual collection of more than 10,000 volumes, along with several magazine and newspaper subscriptions, and an extensive video and DVD collection. Currently, VVS library subscribes to Proquest, an on-line resource that allows access to over 2,000 magazine articles. Next year, the VVS library plans to subscribe to Questia which is an on-line subscription whereby students can access over 60,000 full-text books, over 1,000,000 articles, an entire reference set with a dictionary, encyclopedia, thesaurus plus a collection of digital tools to organize information.
Our curriculum is unique because it is based on our mission, where every VVS student learns about intercultural understanding, not just in the classroom, but on our annual Field Trips and in an ongoing experiment in intercultural living in a truly international community. The mission is also evident in our humanities, social science, science, and art classes. The education at VVS is a preparation for college and a preparation for life in today's world.
