Academics

Lauren Kelley is the chair of the English department and teaches both IB and pre-IB English. She holds a BA from Vassar College and an MFA from Goucher College. 

Lauren has worked extensively in the field of experiential education. She has been a wilderness guide in the Pacific northwest. She built an ESL program for the Himalayan village of Juving in Nepal. 

At VVS, Lauren also coaches girls’ soccer as well as rock climbing. She and her husband, John, are dorm parents. Lauren is inspired on a daily basis by VVS’ rich and dynamic community of students and faculty.
